If you haven’t seen Microsoft’s new specialized multitouch device Surface, I think it’s worth a look. This is the next iMac of the computer world as far as I’m concerned, only maybe even more significant than that. Surface is probably going to pave the way for a new niche in the software industry. There’s going to be a huge demand for multimedia applications that take advantage of the touch interface, so if you are looking to be in the right place at the right time, it might be good to start looking at Silverlight.
And computers like MS Surface aren’t just for entertainment purposes. They’ll have an impact in architecture, software design, business analytics, painting, military – you name it, it’s going to play a role.
Another run around the neighborhood. This time to find out what is being built right around the corner off the highway. They just keep building crap.. I was disappointed to find out one of the huge structures was nothing more than the future site of Lowe’s McKinney. This might normally be a useful thing but we already have a Home Depot right across the street. Capitalism — bah!

Surprisingly I got well into the construction site without anyone hassling me. I probably could have ran through one of those doors undetected but I quickly (and wisely) ruled that out. I still haven’t figured out what the other store is going to be…maybe another day.
Just went running right before a minor rainstorm passed through the neighborhood. It was nice to catch a bit of a shower there at the tail end of the jog. The water tower in the photo was my destination last week but I didn’t have my camera with me at the time. I’ll be doing that later on probably. Anyway, check out the cloud formations - they aren’t nearly as impressive in these shots but still fairly decent.

Nothing but rain and clouds all weekend long. I can never remember all those things saved for rainy days. We did get some house-work done and grilled out 3-4 times so it wasn’t a total wash, but seriously where did the sun go?
This from the Landon Winery in downtown McKinney, where we sought refuge from the semi-torrential rain:

Too Sexy For My Laptop…..So Sexy It Hurts. I couldn’t resist. This article (found on Slashdot) at BusinessWeek talks about Intel’s new attempt to convince fashionistas to trade in their MacBooks for something even more stylish - the trendiest and thinnest (aren’t those the same thing!!) of all laptops. I wonder if utility will agree with design…I can see it now - “Like, how do I even turn this awww-oonnn??” What’s next, a Vuitton-Intel collaboration?
I love to state the obvious…it’s my favorite. Anyway, check out this graphical representation (it was Slashdotted a few days back, so it may be down from time to time) of Wikipedia article interest. The nerd in me loves this kind of thing. It would be great to have a web site or application that displays this information in real time. I’d love to see something like this for blogs as well. It’s great to see controversy thriving on Wikipedia, arguably the best and most useful site on the internet.
I went jogging this afternoon around the neighborhood in what felt like 80-something weather. I ran the same route I took last fall except part of the sidewalk was taken over by nature so I had to run in the street for a few hundred yards or so. I couldn’t resist driving back after getting home and taking a few shots of the farm land right behind our addition. Who knew Texas had wheat? If that’s even wheat…

And now for some cows:

Today is the christening of the Weber grill we’ve had since the wedding but never been able to use. FIRE. MEAT. Enjoy the weather.
Check out my habanero plant:

I’m going to time-lapse from this angle all summer and then do something with the photos…I’m not sure yet what that is.
On June 2, Linnzi and I are going to take part in McKinney’s first wine festival. We’ve never been to one of these things so we’ll probably be the requisite rookie out-of-towners who get wasted and start asking for full glasses of wine. Right after the 5th “taste” I plan on slamming my hand down on the nearest surface whilst yelling “Wicked pisssa!! Can I get a full pour!?” The wine fest is actually piggy-backing on an Art & Jazz event that takes place annually. Strange combination? Seems like wine and jazz aren’t the coziest of bedfellows but what do I know. I guess I’ll have to find something to wear that is jazzy and informal yet dignified.
The wine I’m looking forward to the most is from a winery out of Paris. That’s Paris, Texas folks. I’m not serious about that…I hear they aren’t exactly the headliner in this line-up. I’ll be sure to share the Flickr stream because I know everyone wants to see us happy and full of grapes.
Just a quick post here - I wanted to share this photo. You can’t beat shotgun-shell lights:

This is at a local cafe in downtown McKinney. That’s character.
