Back in the Lone Star
Last week was my first on-site visit to my new job @ Valassis, 1 to 1 solutions. The week was pretty kick-ass, I have to admit. The office is located in Lincoln, MA, which is just minutes from Thoreau’s storied Walden Pond. Walden was one of my favorite books during high school years so it was a bit surreal to realize I was within jogging distance.
Anyway, the office is nestled in a wooded cove off a quiet road that channels through several historical markers and protected areas. The architecture of the building is impressive and open, although there are several lackluster areas chock-full of depressing cubicles. The upside is there are several places readily available with outstanding natural light - the top floor’s central walkway is covered mostly by glass, allowing for a nice greenhouse effect during sunny days. I took some pictures with my phone but I’m way to lazy too upload those right now. I’ll try and snap some off before the office is moved later this summer to Burlington.
It’s great to get back home so I can get started on some summer activities. What’s ahead? I have to grow my peppers of course, and then there’s that whole real estate investment thing I need to pull from the back burner. I can be delayed but not deterred. I believe that almost. Also I need to get back up to the Sooner State to see some of by college hombres for some mildly intoxicating beverages and debilitating amounts of BBQ and/or sausage (yes, a sausage party). I long for the dog-days of summer - filled with humidity and Sublime-style reggae and of course copious quantities of light beer. Bring on the middle-age gut!
